Learn to confidently navigate Medicare.gov, the official government website for Medicare information. This comprehensive two-hour workshop is designed specifically for seniors who want to become proficient in using Medicare's online tools and resources.
During this interactive session, you'll discover how to create your personal Medicare.gov account and explore all the features available to help you make informed healthcare decisions. Our certified SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders) counselors will guide you through the step-by-step process of comparing Medicare plans, understanding coverage options, and accessing important Medicare documents online.
The workshop covers essential topics including how to use the Medicare Plan Finder tool to compare costs and coverage across different Medicare Advantage and Supplement plans in your area. You'll learn to review your current plan's performance, check if your doctors and medications are covered, and identify potential savings opportunities during Open Enrollment periods.
We'll also demonstrate how to access your Medicare Summary Notices (MSNs), track your Medicare spending throughout the year, and understand your Part D prescription drug coverage details. Participants will learn about preventive care benefits covered at no cost and how to locate in-network providers and pharmacies.
Technical support will be available throughout the session to help with account setup and navigation. Please bring a notebook and pen for taking notes. If you have a smartphone or tablet, you're welcome to bring it for hands-on practice, though computer workstations will be provided at the facility.
This workshop is part of the Florida SHINE program's commitment to providing unbiased, free Medicare education and counseling to Florida seniors. SHINE is funded by the Florida Department of Elder Affairs and provides objective information to help seniors make the best Medicare decisions for their individual needs.
