Al'z Place is an adult day care center in Gainesville for adults living with Alzheimer's disease or memory impairment. It is run by ElderCare of Alachua County, part of UF Health, and licensed by the state as an adult day care center (license 9149) for up to 35 participants.
The program runs weekdays from 8 AM to 4 PM. Participants take part in exercise, games, and reminiscence and validation therapy, and get a hot lunch and two snacks each day. Adult day care gives family caregivers time to work, rest or run errands while their loved one is in a safe, supervised setting.
To ask about openings and costs, call ElderCare at (352) 265-9040. Families on a limited income can ask the Florida Elder Helpline, 1-800-963-5337, whether the Alzheimer's Disease Initiative or Medicaid can help pay for adult day care.
